Sermeq Kujalleq

Also known as Jakobshavn Glacier

This glacier drains inland ice through a deep channel into Ilulissat Icefjord, where enormous icebergs move slowly toward Disko Bay.

Thwaites Glacier

Thwaites carries ice from the interior of West Antarctica toward the Amundsen Sea. Much of its bed lies below sea level, allowing ocean water to reach beneath the ice.

Mer de Glace

The glacier flows through a high Alpine valley below steep granite walls. It experiences heavy winter snowfall, warm summers and frequent freeze–thaw cycles on surrounding rock faces.

Haupapa / Tasman Glacier

New Zealand’s longest glacier descends east of Aoraki / Mount Cook. Snow accumulates high in the Southern Alps, while the lower tongue is covered by rock debris and ends in a growing lake.

Perito Moreno Glacier

Perito Moreno flows east from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field into Lago Argentino, in a cool, windy landscape shaped by strong west-to-east precipitation gradients.
